Tourism BC 2005 Innovation Award

The B.C. tourism industry honoured Capilano Suspension Bridge February 28 with the prestigious Outside of the Box tourism award. Capilano Suspension Bridge received this recognition for Treetops Adventure, the first attraction of its kind in North America.

Held in conjunction with the 12th Annual B.C. Tourism Industry Conference at the Westin Bayshore Resort and Marina in Vancouver, the Sixth Annual British Columbia Tourism Awards honours the individuals and organizations leading B.C.'s rebounding tourism industry. Tourism British Columbia and the Council of Tourism Association of B.C. established the Outside of the Box award to recognize forward-thinking companies that introduce innovative new tourism products that lead to business success and benefit the whole tourism industry.

National Tourism Excellence Award 2004 - Innovator of the Year

The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) honoured Capilano Suspension Bridge at the National Awards for Tourism Excellence as Innovator of the Year for the introduction of its Treetops Adventure attraction.

Serving as the leading national private-sector advocate for the tourism industry, TIAC encourages the national development of tourism and represents the interests of the tourism business community throughout Canada. Inaugurated in 2003, the National Awards for Tourism Excellence celebrate those individuals and businesses that represent the best the Canadian tourism industry has to offer.

Tourism Vancouver 2004 Harold J Merilees Award

Nancy Stibbard, owner and general manager of Capilano Suspension Bridge, was awarded the prestigious Harold J. Merilees award on May 25 for her work with the Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion (VCCE) Task Force. The award is presented to a person or a group who has made an outstanding contribution to the awareness of the Greater Vancouver area to the world. The award was presented to Nancy at the Tourism Vancouver Annual General Meeting.

National Tourism Excellence Award 2003 - Business of the Year

The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) honoured Capilano Suspension Bridge as the Business of the Year - Single Unit - at the 2003 National Awards for Tourism Excellence. The awards recognize organizations that are exceptional in their contribution to the development of Canada as a must-see destination.
